Helmeted and cuirassed bust three-quarter facing to right of Anastasius I, holding spear and shield. Reverse: Victory standing left, holding long cross; in right field, star. MIB pl. 36, 9. Some minor shaving on edge. Otherwise, quite lustrous and Extremely Fine.

The portraits of Christ and of Justinian II are superb with exceptional detail. In great demand, mainly because Justinian II was the first emperor to employ a likeness of Christ.

Histamenon nomismata of this period are difficult to find well struck, on large flans and with no graffiti. This is a happy exception. We expect strong competition for its new home.
