Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1315
1857-O. NGC graded MS-67. Well struck with a hint of tone. Incredible quality for this otherwise moderately plentiful New Orleans issue of over 1.5 million pieces. Most, it seems certain, entered circulation and were lost forever due to attrition. Both the luster on this superb coin, along with the striking qualities, are top rate while the pristine surfaces are draped in sensational pale golden toning that tends to lighten in the centers. The luster radiates off both sides with cascading brilliance. One of the nicest Stars Obverse dimes we have seen of any date or mintmark in quite some time.Only 1,200 examples are estimated to have survived. Pop 7; 1 finer in 68.
Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500.
Ex: Eliasberg Collection.

Lot 1316
1882. NGC graded Proof 66. Lovely blue and lilac toning. The surfaces are a gleaming underneath the color, with vivid rather than subtle hues which are boosted by the mirror reflection. On the heels of such active luster, we are pleased to describe a coin faithful to every detail from a full blow by the Proof dies. Only 1,100 minted. Pop 32; 19 finer .
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,600.
