Lot 351
1849 C-1 R2. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Very attractive light chocolate brown with traces of mint red remaining on both sides, mostly on the reverse. Sharply struck EDS, Manley state 1.0, with hard, slightly reflective fields on both sides giving this piece excellent eye appeal. Essentially flawless. The best identifying marks are two microscopic ticks on the jawline. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimated Value $650-UP.

Lot 352
1849 C-1 R2. PCGS graded MS-62 Brown. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with traces of mint red remaining on both sides. There are a few very tiny ticks on both sides, none notable. EDS, Manley state 1.0. The fields on both sides are slightly reflective. This planchet was improperly cut from the strip leaving a planchet cutter impression in the dentils at stars 5-6 and a void at the rim at stars 12-13 that caused the dentils in that area to strike very weakly. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 in 64BN (#35318).
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Lot 353
1850 C-1 R2. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Very attractive dark bluish steel and chocolate. The fields are hard and reflective and this piece has the look of a proof strike. Virtually flawless except for a couple dull nicks at star 3 and some shallow low spots at the dentil tips on the reverse (caused by grease or debris on the die). Very early die state. Sharp doubling (from die bounce) shows on much of the obverse, including the date, stars, and most of the profile. Our grade is MS62. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest graded in Brown (35321).

The only mark, and it is barely visible, is a tiny speck of carbon or crud off the left point of star 13. Sharply struck EDS. Fine doubling shows on many of the stars, parts of the date, and much of the profile (all caused by die bounce). Our grade is MS62. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest graded in Brown (#35321).
