Lot 4838
Belgian Congo SCWPM# 19b, 10.4.1947 1000 Francs. PCGS Very Fine 35PPQ. Fr-P-19b. A stunning example of this rare note that is unlisted in the Krause reference above the "XF" grade. The colors are fresh and bright, and the moderate amount of handling from circulation is not overly distracting. A note from this issue in similar grade realized $2,530 in a Ponterio sale in January, 2009, and we would not be surprised if this note far surpassed our perhaps conservative estimate.
