Lot 2757
1892 Columbian Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. Lightly toned about the borders with slightly prooflike surfaces. In an old style holder. The Columbian was a prolific issue. That said, most were sold to the general public and to those who weren't coin collectors. Fast-foward to today and we find very few true Gems in the MS65 category have survived, with this being an entirely original, eye-appealing coin. It has all the virtues of its grade!
Estimated Value $700 - 800.

Lot 2759
1900 Lafayette Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Nicely toned on both sides. This is a nearly blemish-free case in point of the desirable Lafayette Silver Dollar Commemorative in this grade: satiny white in color under the modest toning, with mint bloom that captures the full effect of the careful preservation since it was made. The portraits are of Generals George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette, the latter a French aristocrat and adventurer who provided major support for the Americans in the Revolutionary War. The wealthy French citizen came to America to support the Revolution. He befriended General Washington and was with him at Valley Forge (PCGS # 9222) .
Estimated Value $1,700 - 1,800.

Lot 2764
1921 Missouri Half Dollar, no 2 x 4. NGC graded MS-65. A frosty brilliant white gem example. The present Missouri Half Dollar displays smooth, ice-white surfaces that would settle for nothing less than a full Gem grade. Quite scarce above the MS64 level, as any collector who tries to complete a 144-piece Gem set of Commemoratives soon discovers. Fortunately for the strike, it, like the luster, is outstanding. A well-struck example with good details. There are no bothersome abrasions or points of wear. Pop 301; 33 in 66, 2 in 67 (PCGS # 9330) .
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000.
