Lot 1791
1900. NGC graded MS-65. Well struck with nice even toning. This example, illustrative of the gem quality seen in its grade class, has iridescent gold surfaces and no tarnishing. Another thing, this Liberty Eagle also displays a precision strike on the legends and main device, which is always a positive feature for any Liberty Eagle; not even a trace of soft detail at the curls or hair bun, the stars or eagle plumage. Pop 60; 4 finer in 66 (PCGS # 8745) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

Lot 1792
1900. NGC graded MS-65. Well struck and frosty with even gold toning on both sides. There is something of an explosion of fine luster here! Readers will notice the velvety to satin-like fields almost stagger under the weight of its highly attractive gold color. A hint of weakness that is sometimes seen on the Liberty series is entirely missing on this razor-sharp specimen, with the key central areas strongly hit by the dies. Pop 60; 4 finer in 66 (PCGS # 8745) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

1907. No Periods. NGC graded MS-63. Quite lustrous featuring pale olive and light color gold. The design finally put into circulation for the 1907 Indian $10 is partly by Saint-Gaudens, but it has been modified by Charles E. Barber. The relief is less bold than on the Rolled Edge and Wire Edge pieces (and the triangular dots are omitted), the branch is differently shaped, a curl encroaches on IBE, some letters are differently shaped, and feather ends are clearer--though central hair and feathers are not. This type continued through part of 1908, and is commonly called "Indian, no motto." (PCGS # 8852) .
Estimated Value $2,400 - 2,500.

1907. No Periods. NGC graded MS-63. A brilliant satiny light golden example. This is the first year for the innovative Indian Eagle. In truth, the portrait is Liberty wearing an ornamental feathered bonnet -- completely dissimilar to any genuine Native American war bonnet. The symbolism continues to the reverse with its resolute bald eagle (PCGS # 8852) .

1908. With motto. PCGS graded MS-64. A gorgeous satiny mint example. A nice solar flaring of golden tint radiates from this lustrous piece. This is a strongly struck example of the first With Motto year (1908-33), with excellent detail to all the important high points. Where sometimes you'll see the add on "with the possible exception of these regions (standard for the issue)", we are thrilled to say that no such add on is required (PCGS # 8859) .
