1892. NGC graded MS-65. Mostly untoned. There is much to say about the beautiful surfaces of this Half Eagle since they sit squarely in the Gem category, a quality rarely obtainable. The mint frost seems to glow with intensity over each side. There is just a bit of light patina as well. Nicely struck, and unlike those which have the faintest touch of weakness at the centers, this exemplary coin is bold. Pop 35; 27 in 66, 14 in 67 (PCGS # 8379) .

This issue is common up to MS62, but much scarcer in MS63. The major services have graded few in this grade. A marginally higher mintage O-mint issue with 110,000 pieces produced. The 1893-O is one of the more commonly encountered O-mint Half Eagles in circulated grades. Pop 13; 1 finer at PCGS (PCGS # 8385) .
