1794 S-31 R1 VG10. Blundered Edge Letters. Sharpness VF35 or slightly better but the planchet is dark and covered with light roughness, strongest on the obverse. No verdigris, and the only marks are a faint, old scrape on the cheek, a thin nick up from the bottom of the pole, and a pair of dull rim nicks over the B in LIBERTY. Frosty dark steel and olive. The date and legends are bold except for strike weakness at ITE in UNITED. The edge lettering is blundered with "HUNDRED FOR" reading "HUNDREDOR." This was caused by operator error when the mint worker failed to reset the Castaing edge-lettering machine to the proper starting position before applying the edge lettering to the planchet.

1794 S-43 R2 NGC graded AU53. Double Profile. Frosty steel brown and tan. The surfaces are smooth and void of any trace of corrosion, but they are not as glossy as you would expect for the grade. Might need a proper brushing to bring out the full beauty of this piece. There are some tiny nicks on the neck and a couple more under the E in CENT, but none of these marks is distracting. Sharply struck EDS, Breen state I, before any die cracks. A sharp, clear double profile shows from the nose tip down to the chin with similar doubling on the hair, dentils, and cap.
