Russian Program, "Buran" Concept Model (about 35x26x16") This white painted wooden preliminary design model was made by a true craftsman, probably in the 1970s or before (judging from the paint and design). The model depicts a prototype of the Russian Buran ("Shuttle") showing seating inside clear windows down both sides (in addition to have a clear windshield). This classic model has a red handpainted "CCCP" on one wing and a red "Soviet" flag on the other. The Buran is was a virtually identical copy of the US Shuttle, but it never flew in Russia. This prototype model may be a one-of-a-kind model outside of Russian museums. In need of TLC and restoration work (mainly on the nose and tail) (the three legs on which the model rested are missing), this model just reeks of authenticity. A rare opportunity to acquire a classic piece of memorabilia.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500
