Lot 988
1895-S. PCGS graded MS-64. Nice even light golden toning. Satiny luster is present beneath the pale color. Barber Dime date collectors should enjoy this carefully graded certified example. In years gone by, a Mint State coin (and some not so Mint State coins) might be described as Choice or even Gem. Today, with published population data, a more accurate rarity rating of branch mint Barber Dime issues is available. Pop 25; 3 in 64+, 5 in 65, 2 in 66 (PCGS # 4808) .

Lot 991
1897-S. NGC graded MS-64. Well struck and white. The numismatic world is peopled by many classes of collectors, but the most keenly attuned will always recognize a scarce coin in very choice quality, and this handsome Barber dime is certainly no slacker. When it comes to rarity, the low grading census points to how few of them survive. When it comes to frosted luster and overall eye-appeal, few MS64 dimes from this branch Mint can compare. Pop 16; 6 in 65, 1 in 66, 1 in 67.

Lot 1006
1921-D. NGC graded MS-64 PQ. Well struck with nearly full split bands. Lightly toned and a Premium Quality coin for the grade. It goes without saying the 1921-D (and its first cousin, 1921-P) are two of the keys in the set -- sometimes overshadowed by the 1916-D in this early period, no doubt, but right up there as difficult acquisitions for the careful buyer. This example has what it takes to meet the grade, and then some.
