This 53pp, red leather bound book bilingual book is extensively signed by both the American and Russian crews and by NASA, Russian and FAI observers and space officials. Among other things, the book lays claim to setting a number of world records during the flight. The FAI is the international body that keeps track of these records for both Space and Aviation and has done so since the days of Orville and Wilbur Wright. The fact that this volume was the consignor's personal copy makes it even more meaningful and important.

Lot 1407
ASTP, 1975, Equipment including Brass Flashlight. Lot of four different pieces of unidentified equipment including 1) A "Panel 8 / Pyro Guard" red screw-in piece that is marked "V36-761785" and "V36-761726" on the inside, 2) a "2.25x1" nut and bolt, both painted red, 3) an aluminum value with a movable open/closed knob on one side. The tube is hand wrapped with white cloth tape on one end. No markings and 4) an unusual brass flashlight (similar to those carried onboard numerous flight), but without NASA markings. This one has what appears to have a hand-cross hatched "CN 5" on the barrel along with hand marked "OFF" and "ON" markings. The end of the barrel is marked "426" by hand and the glass on the lens is cracked. White velcro tape rounds out the picture. The piece appears to be well used. We can't say that any of these pieces are specific to the ASTP mission as Deke was involved with most of America's space missions, but it makes a nice starting point for collectors to begin their research. A nice lot.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.

Lot 1408
ASTP, 1975, "Bilingual Presentation Plaque" (professionally matted and framed to 21x18") This bilingual presentation certificate reads, in English (and, we assume the same in Russian) "Presented to Donald K. Slayton / With our sincere thanks and appreciation for your participation in the Apollo-Soyuz crew post-flight tour of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, September 20, 1975 - October 5, 1975". The piece is signed by Stafford, Brand, Slayton, Leonov and Kubasov. We assume that all five astronauts/cosmonauts received similar pieces of memorabilia, but, for all practical purposes, that would make each of these unique and highly desirable. A bilingual ASTP crew patch at the upper left jut makes the piece that much more attractive and desirable (we assume the patch was not flown, but, who knows). Striking.
Estimated Value $750 - 1,000.

This plaque is the companion piece to that offered in the previous lot. The piece is signed by Stafford, Brand, Slayton, Leonov and Lubasov. We assume that all five astronauts/cosmonauts received similar pieces of memorabilia, but, for all practical purposes, that would make each of these unique and highly desirable. In addition to motion, the simulator included an environmental shroud that could expose the hardware to extremely low temperatures to simulate the space environment during testing.
