Lot 1347
SL-3, 1973, Alan (Bean) Handwritten Note. On SL-3 embossed note paper to Deke Slayton. The note reads: "Deke - Thanks for selecting me as Commander of Skylab this visit. We have trained hard. We are going to give 100%. This mission means so much to Owen, Jack and I. Thanks for having confidence in us. (signed) Alan". The original envelope is included. This was a gracious acknowledgment by Bean to a decision of Slayton's part. It didn't have to be written. It shows the esteem the crews felt for Deke and the comradry that existed between the "brass" and the "crews". Slayton was restored to flight status in March 1972 and soon resigned his position as Director of Flight Crew Operations. The crew selection for this flight may have been his last such decision prior to his resignation to devote his time to ASTP training.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.

Lot 1349
SL-4, 1973, Original Skylab Audio Teletype Printout (about 30x15") This partial ground-to-space capsule printout covers conversations dated 1-12-74. This writer doesn't see the significance of this printout and why Deke saved it, but it probably means something to the right people. In any case, it is an original printout (not a carbon) and they are not found every day. Interesting reading - especially where ground control reads the days news to the crew.
Estimated Value $100 - 150.
Ex. the Donald "Deke" Slayton Estate collection.
