Mishkin, N.Y. Matted with images of the muses of poetry and music and attractively framed to an overall size of 18 x 14 in. Some silvering to photo; Caruso's signature is huge.

Cohan, George M (1878-1942) Songwriter, dancer, actor, playwright, producer, theatre owner; among the songs he wrote were "Yankee Doodle Dandy," "Over There," and "Give My Regards to Broadway. " Typed Letter Signed in green ink on personal, engraved stationery, 10½ x 7¼ in., New York, July 30, 1942. To Messrs. O’Brien, Driscoll & Raftery in New York, enclosing a check (not present) for $937.50 as a percentage of a payment collected for him from Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. A New York Surrogates Court stamp is to the left of the date. Matted with a 2¼ 3¼ in. Card Signed "Yankee Doodlefully Yours / Geo. M. Cohan" and framed to 16 x 11 in. Very Fine.

Marks, Johnny (1909-85) Songwriter who specialized in Christmas songs. Autograph Musical Quotation Signed and Inscribed, "To Gina best wishes / Johnny Marks," on a 3 x 5 inch yellow card with the music and lyrics to the first line of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," all written in red ink. Matted with a 10 x 8 in. photo, also signed and inscribed to Gina, and the cover to the sheet music, stamped "Complimentary," all housed in a cheerful red 17¾ x 21½ in. frame.

Miller, Glenn & The Modernaires (1904-44) American jazz bandleader, arranger, and trombone player; he led the most popular dance band of the late '30s and '40s. He disappeared in Dec. 1944 while flying from London to Paris to meet his Army Air Force Orchestra. War-date Typed Letter Signed on letterhead engraved "2nd Army Air Forces Training Command Radio Unit, one page, 10½ x 8 in., New Haven, Jan. 10, 1944. To A. Lovell Elliott, Jr., stating that it "is impossible for members of the Armed Forces to make any statements for publication without the approval of the Public Relations Officer of the Post to which they are assigned…." Accompanied by War Dept. envelope. With a vintage album leaf, iregularly cut, approx. 5½ x 4½ in., inscribed "To Irene" by The Modernaires vocal group, part of Miller's band and signed by Allan Copeland, Johnny Drake, Francis Scott, Hal Dickinson, and his wife Paula Kelly. Also with a block of 12 color "stamps and assorted newspaper and magazine articles.

Puccini, Giacomo. Musical Quotation Signed on a 3½ x 5½ in. post card, postmarked July 10, 1905, Buenos Aires, Very Fine. Someone wrote out five staffs of music from Puccini’s "Edgar," which Puccini signed. Mailed to Felisa Romula Bedoya in Moron (Argentina). In 1905 Puccini spent six weeks in South America, during which time his revised (and final) version of "Edgar" was premiered. This card is postmarked "Buenos Aires" and dated two days after that premiere.

Saint-Saêns, Camille (1835-1921) French composer, conductor, organist, and pianist. Autograph Letter Signed ("C. Saint-Saêns"), one page, 8¼ x 6½ inches, in French, on stationery engraved "Rue de Courcelles, 83 bis," July 13, 1919. To an unnamed woman informing her that the works of Edouard Marlois have not been edited but that she can get information about them from M. Gigout who has them in his archives. Saint-Saêns adds that they are works for organ, rather than piano. Fine. Matted with an image of Saint-Saêns and framed to an overall size of 14½ x 21½ inches.

Sousa, John Philip (1854-1932) American bandmaster of the US Marine Band and composer of "The Stars and Stripes Forever"and many other marches, as well as comic operas. The "March King" also invented the sousaphone. Autograph Musical Quotation Signed on an album leaf, 4¾ x 7½ in. Four bars from "The Stars and Stripes Forever," darkly penned and signed in full, followed by "Sioux City--Jul. 6 '97. Slight brushing of ink and tiny ink bleed of one letter, else near fine.

The Trapp Family. 1965 program for the Stowe (Vermont) Festival of Music, titled "A Salute to the Trapp Family," signed by nine Trapp family members, including Mrs. Trapp, Rupert, Hedwig, Agatha, Johanna, and Werner as well as by Franz Wasner (the conductor-composer), the Governor of Vermont, the Consul General of Austria, and others. Werner also signed some separate sheet music. The enormously popular musical "The Sound of Music" was based on the musical Trapp family and their escape from Austria when the Nazis took over. Fine.

Baryshnikov"; a used pink ballet slipper inscribed to Danny and signed "Paloma Herrera," and an American Ballet theatre photo postcard with an Autograph Note Signed "Paloma" to Mr. Barry (Leeds), Sept. 30, 2001, regarding his son who had a brain tumor and who would die from it shortly thereafter; two postcard photos signed "Antoinette Sibley" and inscribed to Danny, and a two-page Autograph Letter Signed, on Royal Academy of Dance letterhead, 7¾ x 8¼, Oct. 30, 2002, to Barry Leeds on the loss of his son, Danny; and a 7 x 5 in. Photo Signed and Inscribed, "For Danny, Memories of 'Firebird' Maria Tallchief." All are in excellent condition.
