Hasen, Irwin - Final Dondi Comic Strip. Hand-drawn and signed by Irwin Hasen (1918-),co-creator (with Gus Edson) of the Dondi comic strip, 6½ x 18½ in., with 1986 Tribune Media Services copyright. A unique collectible, this is THE final Dondi comic strip, which ran for 31 years, the last strip appearing on June 7, 1986. Dondi was about the adventures of a war orphan from Europe who was brought to the U.S. by two American G.I.'s. Offered at auction for the first time.

Neiman, LeRoy (1921 -) American artist known for colorful, energetic paintings and screen prints of sporting events and leisure activities. Black and white Photograph Signed and Inscribed, "To Michelle / LeRoy Neiman," in black marker in the lower border. What makes this photo different is the original trail of smoke which Neiman drew from his cigar to the upper edge of the photo. Very Fine.

Five penciled words on page facing sketch. Green leather covers with gilt border on cover and gilt lettering and illustrations on spine and cover.

Large 4to. With original ink drawing on the half title page signed, "Arthur Rackham." Thirty-six of forty color plates are present, tipped in with captioned tissue guards. Numerous black and white illustrations. Title printed in red and black. Original vellum over boards. Pictorially stamped and lettered in gilt on front cover and spine. Top edge gilt. Original yellow silk tie is attached on the right side only. Some yellowing to vellum and slight bowing of front board.

With original ink drawing on the half title page, signed "Arthur Rackham." White covers have some soiling; with gilt lettering and illustrations on cover and spine. Frontispiece and two other plates missing; one other plate is loose but present. Two works penciled on inside cover.

Saint Gaudens, Augustus (1848-1907) Irish-born American sculptor. He designed monuments for several Civil War heroes, as well as coins for the U.S. Mint, including the $20 "double eagle" gold piece, which is considered the most beautiful American coin ever issued. Signnature and date, "Augustus Saint-Gaudens / February 8th 1905" on 3¼ x 4¾ in. paper. Lightly toned and soiled.

Schulz, Charles (1922-2000) American cartoonist whose popular and influencial comic strip, Peanuts, first appeared on October 2, 1950 and ran almost 50 years; the last original strip appeared February 13, 2000, just hours after Schulz' death. Huge original grease pencil or crayon drawing of Snoopy signed "Charles Schulz," 33 x 27 inches. Snoopy is pictured lying happily on top of his doghouse. Schulz' signature, which is signed with "Charles" above "Schulz," is 16 inches across and 6 inches high. Drawing is simply matted and framed to 39 x 32 inches.

This original drawing was consigned by two sisters who accompanied their late parents on a cruise (they think it was in 1969) on the Princess Italia. Charles Schulz was on the ship and for one of the cruise's events--a charity auction-- he hand-drew and signed this enormous Snoopy, which was then auctioned off. Their parents were the happy winners.

Schulz, Charles. Huge original grease pencil or crayon drawing of Snoopy signed "Charles Schulz," 33 x 27 inches. Snoopy is pictured skipping happily along. Schulz' signature is 23 inches across. Drawing is simply matted and framed to 39 x 32 inches. Glass should be replaced; a diagonal crack at lower left corner does not touch the drawing.

Warhol, Andy (1928-87) Copy of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol Inscribed and Signed on the half-title page, "to Burt R. love Andy Warhol," with a drawing by Warhol of a soup can, on which he wrote "soup can." This book was inscribed to Burt Reynolds, who was involved romantically with singer, actress, and television personality Dinah Shore in the early 1970s. It was among the books bequeathed by Miss Shore to her grandson upon her death in 1994. Very Fine.
