  U.S. Warship Maine. Spanish American War image, made from a photograph of the U. S. Warship Maine, resting at anchor in an unnamed harbor, produced by the Providence Albertype Co. of Providence, Rhode Island, and attached to a mat frame which advertises John "The Shoeman" at 184 Mathewson Street, apparently in Providence. Visible image is 7½ x 9½ in.; matted to 10¾ x 13 in. The bottom of the frame is inscribed: "U. S. Warship "Maine" - Sunk in Havana Harbor, Feb. 15, 1898." Mat has some bumped corners and water stains at the right edge; photo is fine.
