Flying Eagle Cents

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 629
1856. PCGS graded Proof 62 PQ. CAC Approved. The most frequently encountered Proof variety of this issue, Snow-9 is also the most common 1856 Flying Eagle Cent in today's hobby. According to Snow (2000), examples of this variety were produced from 1858 through 1860. This coin possesses an attractive appearance for a Copper-Nickel Cent with light pinkish tan obverse and reverse surfaces, tarnish- and spot-free. Both sides are sharply impressed by the dies. The strike is bold, in other words, while the surfaces are remarkably distraction-free for the assigned grade. Only a few minor hairlines (PCGS # 2037) .
Estimated Value $11,000 - 12,000.
