Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. Gold Aureus (8.06 g) minted at Rome by moneyer A. Hirtius, 46 BC. Veiled female head right. Reverse: Lituus, jug and ax. Cr. 466/1; Syd. 1017; C. 2. Reverse slightly off-center. Extremely Fine and of attractive style.

After numerous victories in Gaul, Pontus, Egypt and Africa, Caesar distributed a largesse to his soldiers, as well as to the male populace of Rome in August of 46 BC.
