The real stoppers to finishing a representative Type Set of Period One and Period Two California Fractional gold pieces are the One Dollar pieces. This is a very attractive AU58 specimen. 1872 Dollar Round. Breen and Gillio-1207. Rarity 4. PCGS graded MS-62. Well struck with prooflike fields and frosty devices. This attractive 1872 Indian head is from a group of "mavericks" by unknown maker (or makers), possibly Herman J. Brand. The date is close; large Indian head; shares the same reverse with BG-1206 with a star below DOLLAR and all within a leafy wreath with many large berries. Pop 23; 30 finer with 21 in 63, 8 in 64, 1 in 65. The popular Round Dollar is always in demand (PCGS # 10952) .
