At the time this gold Eagle was made in 1895, America was being led by a beefy, 300-pound gentle giant of a President, Grover Cleveland. As politicians go, Mr. Cleveland was somewhere in-between when it came to skullduggery and job peddling. He had a conservative bent, though, and was a hard money (gold) advocate, which surfaced in his clashes with followers of the fiery silverite William Jennings Bryan.
Estimated Value $950 - 1,000.

1901 $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-66. Nice golden toning. A few minor flyspecks. A crisply struck coin glowing with Imperial golden glow from the fields through to the devices. Our observation of the luster ends but yours shouldn't since a person could stare mesmerized at this ones beauty and radiance for hours on end. But pertaining to the devices, this coin was struck with the methodical precision throughout expected of a coin in MS66 condition. Pop 64; 8 finer (PCGS # 8747) .

1901 $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-64. Well struck and quite frosty with a few bagmarks around the eye. This is a generally well-struck example with good details. It has no bothersome tarnish or points of wear but as is often the case, the dies left their partly rigid impression behind with some modest weakness or imprecision only at the obverse stars (PCGS # 8747) .

1901-S $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-66 PQ. Boldly struck with lovely natural golden toning. Frosty rose-gold patina twinkles over both sides. In fairness to objectivity, the luster isn't the be-all and end-all of the grade although it serves as a powerful foundation to base ones opinion on. Consider strike, as well: a sharp impression was left by the recoil of the dies that struck this 1901-S Liberty Eagle. Finally, a coin that has been sitting in a safe deposit vault for who knows how long makes its appearance in auction bearing the words: "I'm here; better buy me before the opportunity vanishes forever!" A well struck, swirling Gem that has carefully preserved surfaces. One would be hard put to add more about the mint bloom. As for the strike, this handsome coin was struck with technical exactness throughout. Pop 258; 26 finer (PCGS # 8749) .

1901-S $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-66 PQ. Boldly struck with nice even toning. Well defined with extraordinary mint luster and ample goldeness that is capped off by fresh original color. At the moment when luster is a key determinant of the grade, it goes without saying the devices should also be struck boldly by the dies. And here, the coin is just that, bold. Bidders should get their mind under proper control after lot viewing and then arrive at a bid range in line with its near pristine condition.Pop 258; 26 finer (PCGS # 8749) .

1907 $10 Liberty. NGC graded MS-62. A nice strike and untoned. It's a funny thing, in its day, a $10 gold piece like this 1907 Liberty head would have been shunned by the public, who preferred to do their transactions using more convenient $10 bills ("promised money" or "money substitutes"). Now, when all we see are money substitutes parading around as real money, coin collectors prefer "hard money", a.k.a. The Real Thing. Ten dollars in gold was a lot of money back then. A $10 gold piece is still a lot of money today because it takes so many modern $10 bills to acquire just one $10 coin! (PCGS # 8673) .

1907 $10 Indian. No Motto. PCGS graded MS-64. Lovely golden toning. A lustrous example that has rich frosty golden luster. A touch of weakness is seen at upper hair waves (above the ear) on most of this issue, but here it is probably that the dies were spaced at the right distance apart to prevent any major weak metal flow in that area. The designs are above average for the date (PCGS # 8852) .

1908 $10 Indian. With motto. PCGS graded MS-64. Clearly superior to the vast majority of heavily abraded Uncirculated pieces, this choice warm-golden example has only a few well scattered blemishes and benefits from the high production standards employed by the Mint during this With Motto period of 1908-33. If one were to take a poll, we'd see that the strike meets the rigid standard for the issue in being sharp with excellent metal flows on both sides into the deepest die recesses; in other words, a very bold strike (PCGS # 8859) .
