Ostrogoths in Italy, Theodoric, 493-526. Gold Solidus in the name of Justin I (4.4g), Rome. 518-26. Helmeted and cuir. bust of Justin three-quarter face to r., holding spear and shield. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG A, Victory stg. l., holding long voided cross, star in field to l., COMOB in ex. MIB 24; BMC p. 48, 12-14. Choice Extremely Fine and rare, small abrasion in reverse field.

Reverse: Victory standing facing, holding wreath and globus cruciger; in right field, six-pointed star. Seemingly unpublished; cf. MEC I, p. 62 and plate 15, 294. Choice Very Fine.
This is likely one of the earliest coins of the Lombards and very important as such.
