1875, $1 National Bank Note. Mercantile NB of the City of New York, NY. PCGS Currency Very Good 8. . Fr-385. . KL-1091. While this is a relatively common bank that issued more than $16 million worth of notes through 1912, only four $1 First Charter examples are known, with this a new discovery. It is solid for the grade, and despite being well worn it is not at all unattractive.
Estimated Value $600 - 900.

Lot 2610
Original Series, $2 National Bank Note. Union NB, Aurora, IL. PCGS Currency Very Good 8. . Fr-389. . KL-1095. This First Charter "Lazy Deuce" is one of only three known examples from this bank, which was chartered in 1871 but did not last through the end of the decade, liquidating in 1879. It is well worn, but retains complete wholeness and is free of any significant problems for the grade. Difficult to estimate because of the rarity, but likely to easily reach or exceed our potentially conservative attempt.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.

1875, $2 National Bank Note. The Pittsburgh NB of Commerce. PMG Net 6, Repaired. . Fr-391. . KL-1097. Multiple repairs are present, but they mostly serve a positive purpose to hold together this otherwise heavily worn "Lazy" Deuce. This early Pittsburgh bank issued First Charter notes all the way up to the $500 denomination; unfortunately none of the $500s survive from here today.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Lot 2612
1875, $5 National Bank Note. The Stock Growers NB, Cheyenne, WY. PCGS Currency Very Fine 25. . Fr-407. . KL-1112. Luckily for collectors of notes from this Western state, a handful of First Charters from this bank survived. This one is a pleasing example with bold pen signatures, modest circulation, and outstanding eye appeal. Less than three dozen First Charter notes are known from Wyoming, with about three-quarters of them from this bank. They make infrequent public sale appearances, as most are ensconsed in long-term collector holdings.
Estimated Value $14,000 - 16,000.

Lot 2616
1882, $10 National Bank Note. The First NB, McAlester, IT. PCGS Currency Apparent Very Fine 20. . Fr-491. . KL-1197. This lovely Brown Back is one of only four territorials known on this bank. It has excellent eye appeal overall, and the sharp pen signatures add to its already considerable appeal. There is a repaired edge tear at the bottom right of center, as mentioned by PCGS Currency, but it is very difficult to see and is easily missed even under close inspection. Indian Territory notes are not readily available, and an avid group of Oklahoma collectors makes sure that the supply is never sufficient for the demand.
Estimated Value $9,000 - 11,000.
