Lot 2536
1896, $2 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Choice About New 58PPQ. . Fr-248. . KL-129. An outstanding example of this magnificent Educational series design, with terrific inks and bold originality. There is a hidden vertical center bend that is difficult to see through the holder, otherwise it would grade fully Choice New or better. Many technical AU notes like this sell for a premium even above that of low grade Uncirculated notes, so don't be surprised if the bidding takes off and far surpasses our likely conservative estimate.

This fresh, bright, and fully original Agricultural Deuce has bold embossing, vibrant colors and inks, and good margins all around. Lot 2539
1899, $2 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Choice About New 58. . Fr-254. . KL-135. This is the scarcest of the signature combinations of this design type, with 254s about three or four times scarcer than any of the other numbers. This one is a beauty and faces up as fully Uncirculated, but there is a deceptive center fold that can only be seen after close inspection.

1891, $5 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Choice About New 55PPQ. . Fr-267. . KL-237. This design type is as a whole slightly scarcer than the 1886 Silver Dollar backs, but because of the demand from coin collectors for the latter the 1891 series is overshadowed by its earlier cousin. 1896, $5 Silver Certificate. CGA Gem Uncirculated 67. . Fr-269. . KL-239. This lovely Educational Five has broad, even margins, excellent colors and inks, and all appearances of a fully original Gem note. High grade Educational Fives are a thing of beauty, and this stunning beauty is no exception. It is considered by many collectors to be the finest example of engraving art in the storied history of United States currency, and with this piece in front of you it is hard to argue the point. Included is a PMG grading insert that indicates that their graders called this exact note a Gem Uncirculated 66EPQ.

1899, $5 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Very Choice New 64. . Fr-276. . KL-246. This Napier-Thompson signed Indian Chief is the scarcest signature combination of the type. This piece is pedigreed to the fabulous Dave Rickey collection, the sale of which produced the first seven-figure sale of a piece of U.S. currency in history. 1899, $5 Silver Certificate. Mule. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65EPQ. . Fr-281. . KL-251. A splendid Gem Indian Chief with original surfaces and terrific eye appeal. The aesthetics are even more impressive when one considers how many of these notes have been mishandled or subject to various attempts at "improvement" over the years.
