Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 2501
1901, $10 United States Note. PCGS Currency Extremely Fine 40PPQ. . Fr-119. . KL-385. This is as honestly circulated as a note can get, with several light folds but completely original surfaces that still display nearly full embossing. A lovely Bison for a type set collector who can't afford a Gem, or for the budget conscious collector who recognizes the value that lightly circulated "PPQ" notes represent.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.

Lot 2502
1862, $20 United States Note. PCGS Currency Very Fine 30. . Fr-125. . KL-524. Less than three dozen examples are known of this very scarce Fr. number that has the 1862 issue date in combination with the Second Obligation style back. This note is essentially free of any major problems or distractions, and has good color and eye appeal for the grade.
Estimated Value $4,500 - 6,500.

Lot 2503
1862, $20 United States Note. PCGS Currency Apparent Fine 15. . Fr-125. . KL-524. This is a pleasing example overall despite the presence of a small repaired edge tear at bottom right that is harldy mentionable and could easily be missed even after close inspection. It still presents well, and the minor flaw is likely not to hurt the value much.
Estimated Value $2,250 - 2,750.

Lot 2504
1869, $20 United States Note. PCGS Currency Fine 12. . Fr-127. . KL-526. High grade Rainbow Twenties are available from a few small runs that are known to have been saved at the time of issue, but they are prohibitively expensive to the average collector. Less expensive circulated examples, on the other hand, are apt to be damaged or plagued with problems. This piece is a welcome exception, as the colors and eye appeal are that of a note that grades far higher than this example. The moderate circulation that this piece obviously endured in the channels of commerce left it no worse for the wear, and the eye appeal is sufficient to please almost any collector. This piece could bring much more than a typical example in this grade, as it truly represents a nice, above average example for the grade.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.

Lot 2505
1875, $20 United States Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66EPQ. . Fr-129. . KL-528. Always a popular design type, this colorful issue is sometimes available in top grades only because of a couple of high grade runs that were saved at the time of issue and later found their way into collector hands. This example is blessed with the beautiful colors that give this type magnificent eye appeal, and the margins were deemed sufficient for the grade by the PMG graders. A lovely note in all respects, and likely to appeal to a broad range of collectors.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 7,000.
