Lot 4354
CHINA-REPUBLICAN. Dollar, 1914. Y-329. 26.8 grams. Year 3. A splendid coin showing only wispy hairlines of the faintest sort, but not a single mark. The coin has high, square rims, sharp edge reeding, a full strike on both sides, and marvelously toned surfaces, identical in color and texture on each side: an elegant, light pastel blue and gray, delicate enough to permit the booming cartwheel luster beneath to blaze through. Simply magnificent! Possibly a proof or specimen strike. Choice Uncirculated.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Purchased from Macallister, 5/3/45 for $5.00.

Lot 4355
CHINA-REPUBLICAN. Dollar, ND (1914). K-642; Y-322. A glorious specimen, probably the finest there is. The strike is incredibly sharp, so much so that the wreath seems to pop off the surface. The rims are high and knife-like. The beading inside the rims is deep and boldly detailed. The reeded edge is almost crisp enough to cut the fingers. The surfaces are close to perfection. The luster is exceptionally bright beneath the fabulous bluish lilac pastel iridescent toning, which is even and identical on both sides. By the general's shoulders may be found a few stray raised lines, evidently from an unfinished die. This coin is a treasure in every respect!. Choice Uncirculated.
Estimated Value $250 - 300.
