Guthrie, Woodrow "Woody" (1912-1967) Highly influential and prolific American folk musician noted for his identification with the common man, and for his abhorrence of fascism, politicians, hypocrisy and economic exploitation. He is best known for his song This Land Is Your Land. He is the father of folk musician Arlo Guthrie and grandfather of Sarah Lee Guthrie.

Woody Guthrie handwritten lyrics (in pencil), 1p, 12½ x 8 in., 20 April 1946, to a song he wrote for his daughter Cathy, who died at age four in a fire. The song is untitled and likely unpublished. It reads: "Cathy on guitar, guitar lays on rug and Cathy sits playing on strings and talking: Hm hm hm hm/ This is how the little kitten sounds/ hm hm hm hm/ And this is how the mama cat sounds and the mama cat is in the lake/ hm hm hm/ and the big daddy cat sees the mommy in the water and here is how he sounds/ And he sees hears the little baby cat/ Hm hm hm hm/ And the little baby cat is crying/ He is crying on the sand/ He is crying for his Mommy in the water/ mmm mmm mmm/ And the Daddy kitty goes this way/ mm mm mm/ And do you know what the daddy cat done?/ no?/ mm mm/ no?/ Don't you?/ Don't you know?/ Did he jump into the water and pull the mama cat out?/ I don't know/ mm mm/ I don't know." Hollywood Color Portraits - Book With 22 Celebrity Signatures. Book by John Kobal (William Morrow and Co., Inc., 1981) with over 70 full-page color photos of Hollywood stars. Twenty-two of the stars signed either on their photo or on the facing page containing their biography. The stars who signed were: Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Lucille Ball, Loretta Young, Ann Sothern, Lauren Bacall, Gregory Peck, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Mitchum, Louis Jourdan, Claudette Colbert, Mickey Rooney, Olivia de Havilland, Joan Fontaine, Roy Rogers, Kirk Douglas, Lizabeth Scott, Glenn Ford, Cyd Charisse, Jane Russell, and Dorothy Lamaour.

The signatures were obtained between 1985 and 1987. Post-It notes are affixed near each signature, noting the place and date the autograph was obtained. Many were signed at famous restaurants such as Chasens, Bistro Gardens, and Spago; others were signed at the Beverly Hilton, at various theatres, and at a book store. The spine of the book is somewhat loose but this does not affect the beautiful photographs and large, bold signatures.

Lee, Bruce (1940-73) Martial artist who achieved legendary status and who brought karate action to films. Originally from Hong Kong, he first worked in Hollywood, but later returned to his native country to star in action movies such as "Enter The Dragon."

Rare original 3½ x 2½ in. Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute "gold stripe" student membership card signed ("Bruce Lee") as President. Not dated or filled out. Bruce Lee's Chinese name was Lee Jun Fan. His first Gung Fu school was in Seattle. This signed card was sent by Lee to Taky Kimura, who was 36 when he first met 18-year-old Bruce Lee in Seattle in 1959. Kimura eventually became head instructor of Seattle's Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute. After he moved to California in 1964, Lee would sign the cards and send them to Kimura to fill out and distribute to members. Kimura was best man at Linda and Bruce Lee's wedding in 1964 and one of the pall bearers at Bruce Lee's funeral nine years later. Fine condition.

Lugosi, Bela (1882-1956) Hungarian-born American actor, Lugosi enjoyed his greatest success on Broadway as "Dracula", a role he repeated on film. He made a memorably menacing, aristocratic vampire but soon found himself typecast.

Typed letter signed ("Bela"), 1p, 11 x 7 in., North Hollywood, California, 22 July 1943, on his personal letterhead. To Mr. Milton Yakus in Boston. Lugosi writes: "I have just returned from my four months tour with 'Dracula'. I got in touch with the William Morris Agency here in Hollywood and asked them to inquire … about your stories. As yet, I have not heard from them; but as soon as I get their reply I will let you know… " Accompanied by a 10 x 8 in. full length, black and white photo of Lugosi as Dracula. The letter has overall wrinkling and one edge tear at upper right, otherwise very good. Two quintessential Bela Lugosi items.

A note affixed to the back states that the signature was obtained at the "Amonson" [correct spelling is Ahmanson] Theatre on February 28, 1988. The Ahmanson is in downtown Los Angeles. The 52-year-old Reeve died in 2004 from problems resulting from paralysis sustained in a 1995 riding accident.

An archive of 1934-35 correspondence with producer Lester Cowan including three autograph letters signed, from Robinson to Cowan, total of 8 pages, regarding possible projects, dealings with studios, etc, 2 telegrams signed "Eddie" in type, an 8 page carbon copy of a memorandum for services performed by Cowan for Robinson, and a 1935 affidavit filed by Cowan from the California Superior Court: "Petition For An Order Directing Arbitration." All fine. In 1935, Cowan would produce The Whole Town's Talking, the film which would revive Robinson's career.

Williams, Hank (1923-52) Hank Williams, Sr. was regarded as the greatest country artist ever. Williams' smash hit, Cold, Cold Heart, reached No. 1 on the country charts and later became a pop hit for Tony Bennett. The popularity of I Heard You Crying in Your Sleep and Lovesick Blues earned Williams a trip to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in 1949. Williams appeared regularly at the Opry and organized the Drifting Cowboys to tour, along with additional studio musicians, the United States, Canada and Germany. Why Don't You Love Me and Long Gone Lonesome Blues were No. 1 hits. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961.

Rare typed document signed ("Hank Williams"), 3pp, 14 x 8½ in., Nashville, Tenn., 18 July 1952. The document is is a contract between Williams and Abe J. Cohen in which Cohen purchased all of the assets of Williams' western wear clothing store "Hank Williams Corral" in Nashville, which had been closed for seven weeks. The purchase price is $4,000 and Cohen promises not to associate Williams' name with his new venture. Boldly signed at the conclusion. Fine.

The suggestive photos made during the session caused censorship problems and the film was not released until 1946. By then, the photos had made Russell a celebrity. Framed and signed in the upper left margin by producer Gary Kurtz. A few minor spots and light wear near edges, else very fine. A must-have for serious collectors!

This collection features an original 14 x 36 in. insert movie poster for Ralph Bakshi's animated sci-fi fantasy "Wizards", a set of eight individually framed 11 x 14 in. lobby cards for Bakshi's 1978 animated feature "Lord of the Rings", based on J.R.R. Tolkien's renowned fantasy series, and an original 22 x 28 in. half sheet for the latter film. Both posters are in near mint condition with only faint toning. The lobby cards depict different characters and scenes from the film and are all under glass, except one. A must for any fan of Tolkien or Bakshi's work.
