This 1fr. cover is underfranked as the 1fr stamp was issued for use only on post cards and the 2fr value was for envelopes. Backstamped Gams/St. Gallen. A fascinating collection that includes B/4, Pb/6 and covers signed by various notables associated with the political and historical aspects of the Centennial including Fred C. Yohn (x7, the artist whose painting was used as the model for the stamp), Harry New (x6. Postmaster General), James Geoner (x2), James Watson, Harry Greslin (x3, Indiana Govenor), Myers Cooper (x2), Fred Green (x2, Michigan Govenor), Louis E… (x3, Illinois Govenor), Walter Kohler (x3, Wisconsin Govenor), Theodore Christianson (x2, Minnesota Govenor), Calvin Cooledge, Taft and over a dozen other important persons, all associated with this historic event. ALSO included are First Day Covers showing many of the different printer's cachets and used with different official and unofficial cancellations of the day. We note cachets from Shockley, Ploch, G.
