Lot 239
1783 Washington Unity Cent Breen-1188. Fine-15. Misaligned Dies with Partial Railroad Rim. Sharpness VF30 but the fields are covered with microscopic roughness under a thin layer of dark greenish olive verdigris. A few fine hairline scratches across the upper half of the obverse blend into the patina. Slightly glossy olive and chocolate with lighter steel brown highpoints. The planchet appears to be quite brassy rather than the usual copper alloy seen on this variety. In addition, the dies were obviously misaligned, especially on the reverse where that side is clearly off center to K-10.5. The die misalignment caused a partial railroad rim extending from K-11 clockwise to K-4 on the obverse. An extremely rare error.
Estimated Value $80 - 100.

Lot 244
1791 Washington Small Eagle Cent Breen-1217. Fine-15. Sharpness near VF30 but there are several light rim bruises on each side, none significant but too many to ignore, and the first 1 in the date has been scraped away. A dull nick in the field over the bust is the only other mark worthy of mention. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown. Struck very slightly off center to the bottom leaving a few letters of the legend tight to the edge.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.

1793/2 Washington Ship Halfpenny Breen-1225. NGC graded AU-50 Brown. Overdate 3 over 2. Frosty light olive and chocolate brown. No defects, only very light wear. Sharply struck EDS, and the overdate feature is visible at the base of the 3. A relatively rare early die state for this variety showing only minor swelling at the left top of the reverse under HALF. NGC population 5 with 17 finer.
Estimated Value $500 - 600.

Lot 246
(1795) Washington Liberty & Security Penny Breen-1254. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. Frosty light chocolate brown with faded mint color peeking through in the protected areas on the obverse. A small spot under the G in WASHINGTON and a small spot of very fine greenish verdigris on the rim at the T in SECURITY are the only defects, and they are insignificant. The attribution as Breen-1254 assumes this piece has the common ASYLUM edge lettering, which can't be verified in the slab. NGC population 6 with 2 finer.
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
