The obverse is glossy reddish chocolate brown, the reverse glossy light chocolate and medium brown. E-MDS. The date and legends are strong.

Slightly glossy dark chocolate and steel brown, the obverse displaying more gloss than the reverse, which is closer to matte. MDS. The date and legends are complete and strong.

1811/10 S-286 R3. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. Overdate 11 over 10. Glossy steel brown and light chocolate with frosty tan and light brown in protected areas. Lightly cleaned and expertly retoned giving this piece excellent eye appeal in spite of imperfect surfaces. The surfaces are decent but a glass reveals traces of extremely fine roughness on the obverse, mostly around the bust tip and stars 1-2 where some very fine carbon was removed. MDS. Called EF45 net VF30 in the Noyes census, his photo #27386. Graded EF40 in the Breen/Bland condition census. An imperfect example but still the highest graded of the variety by NGC. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.

1811 S-287 R2. VF-35. Turban Head. Five points sharper but the obverse was very lightly cleaned long ago and is now nicely retoned an attractive reddish chocolate and steel brown with frosty flowline luster showing in the protected areas. The reverse is frosty steel and chocolate with lighter brown in protected areas. Excellent eye appeal. The only marks are a few faint hairline scratches on the cheek and in the field before the chin, none visible without a strong glass. Nicely struck MDS, Breen state III.

Struck 15% off center to K-5 leaving most of the date off the planchet, only the very tops of those digits remaining. Everything on the planchet is clear.

  Pair of Counterstamped Early Coppers. Includes a Massachusetts Cents (1787 or 1788) stamped into a counterstamped 1807 Large Cent that was itself counterstamped "J. W. V" twice, plus an 1825 Large Cent counterstamped "2d P.F.C./LUCK" on the obverse and holed in the center. Perhaps this piece was kept by a soldier for luck during combat. Both are in low grade. 1817 N-7 R3 "Mouse Top". Fine-15. Slightly sharper with a few minor rim bruises on the obverse and a small patch of minor roughness at the 18 in the date. Glossy reddish chocolate and olive brown. MDS with a strong "Mouse Break" resting on the top of Ms Liberty's head below star 8. A popular die state named after the little rodent because the break resembles a tailless version of this little animal, an often-maligned critter that's badly in need of a good publicity agent.

1817 N-11 R1. AU-58. Lustrous olive and steel. Attractive cartwheel luster covers the fields on both sides thanks to fine die flowlines. The only mark is a dull horizontal nick on the cheek right of the nostril. Otherwise this cent has just a touch of rub on the highpoints, and the eye appeal is excellent. MDS, before the "Mouse Break" forms on the top of the head.

The surfaces are satiny and offer excellent eye appeal. The only notable defect is a short, faint hairline scratch in the field before the coronet fading out as it reaches down into the field before the eyebrow. Later die state with very fine die rust covering the portrait and minor dishing at the reverse rim. EAC grade MS60, tied for CC#3, and one of the slightly nicer examples is impounded in the ANS Museum.

The surfaces are satiny and the only mark is a planchet void on the rim at TES, as struck. The surfaces are quite attractive and suggest a higher grade, but the usual soft strike on the stars and along the top of the head and lower part of the wreath keep the grade at a more modest level. LDS with additional crumbling in the dentils at star 11. Excellent eye appeal for the grade.

The remaining 99 pieces are from 1822 to 1856 and grade Basal State-1 to Fine-15, but most are Very Good or less. All but a few of the 216 pieces have a readable date, although many of the readable ones are not strong. Probably best to call this group an accumulation rather than a collection as there are obvious duplicates included, but there is a gold mine here for an internet seller willing to take the time to market them. Lot of 216 coins.
