European/American Colonial Flintlock Pistol, c. 1720-1750. 8" tapering octagon to round steel barrel with three inlayed brass unidentified makers' marks. Possibly of Dutch origin, originally had a barrel length around 12"+, but was cut down during its working life. Engraved brass furniture. English replacement lock by "Barbar, London" married to pistol c. 1740-1750. Stock has wonderful, almost glass appearance from years of handling. Plain period upper entry ram rod pipe and nose cap are typical of Colonial American work. 15" overall length, untouched condition, in good working order.

English Cased Pair Of Box-Lock Flint Pistols. Circa 1770 by Tompson Davis. 2.75".44 cal. three-stage round steel turn-off barrels with cannon muzzles. Blued, engraved frames marked "T. Davis" on one side and "Oxford" on the other. Stock on one pistol is missing a tiny piece at the lower right edge by frame, otherwise both stocks are solid with simple thin wire inlay outling the contours (100% intact). Normal scratches and dings from years of service. 8.75" overall length. In good working order. Period box measures 12" x 6.75" and has blue velvet interior with areas of fading and some lining replaced over the years. Accessories include powder flask, bullet mold with barrel wrench, brass ram rod, balls, tow, extra flints and leathers. Ref: see Gunmakers of London 1350-1850 by Howard L. Blackmore, 1986, p. 79.

Brass furniture with the wrist escutcheon engraved "H.M. 47th Rt. 1775, 2" (His Majesty's 47th Regiment, 1775, 2nd Company?). The stock has a period replaced splice of wood on upper edge of right side of fore-end and a period repaired break through the lock mortise. Otherwise solid with normal age scratches and dings from years of service. Includes original hickory ram rod and in good working order.

Composite Cased Pair Of French Medium-Size Flintlock Holster Pistols For The Eastern Market. Pistols circa 1780, case circa early-mid 19th century. 8.5".64 cal. octagon to round swamped steel barrels with heavy brass decorative overlay. Locks lightly engraved, one mainspring is broken. Engraved brass furniture. Both stocks have bone fore-end caps. Each have a stress crack at the upper-rear portion of the lock mortise, otherwise solid with approximately 75% remaining brass wire inlay throughout. 14.5" overall length. All steel parts have a thick dark untouched age patina. The box is 15.75" wide x 9.5" deep x 3" high. It is old, but not of the same period as the pistols and fitted with a green velvet interior. Accessories include powder/shot measure, bullet mold, powder flask, patches, and balls.

Circa 1780-1800. 11".57 cal. octagon to round steel barrel with two proof marks on the left side of the breech and gold decorative overlay and an unidentified signature on the top flat. Silver furniture. Lock marked "Aonton" with remnants of gold overlay on screw tips. The stock is missing a few small chips from the rear of the lock mortise, otherwise solid and profusely inlaid with silver wire scrolls, dots, and engraved foliage with 95% remaining. 16.25" overall length. Composite Cased Pair Of Belgian Military Flintlock Horse Pistols. Pistols circa 1790-1820, case circa late 19th century. Standard 9".65-67 cal. round steel barrels marked with Belgian proof mark "E L G" in an oval. Brass regulation furniture. Butt caps with built-in lanyard rings. Locks unmarked. Stocks solid with normal age scratches and dings from years of service. Pistols in good working order. Box is old, but not of the same period as the pistols. Measures 18.5" wide x 13.25" deep x 4" high. Its interior, lined in correct green baise, was modified from holding flatware to holding these pistols in the 20th century. Accessories include a bullet mold, powder flask, tow, cleaning patches, and a reproduction oil bottle.

Impressive Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol. Perhaps French or German, c. 1790's - 1820's. The barrel of attractively patterned Damascened steel, with the rear half octagonal, and the fore end circular with flaring muzzle, the fashioning of which is consistent with the rest of the gun's well-crafted lock, plus brass furniture. Floral and scroll engraving on brass trigger guard and butt cap, along with the steel barrel strap. Also nicely sculpted roses(?) on the wood thumb rest. Some careful mends to lower wood handle; the stock re-colored. No proof marks visible. Generally in Fine condition and working order. Overall length: 11¾". A handsome weapon.

U.S. Contract Model 1795/1808 Flintlock Musket. By Elijah and Asa Waters and Nathaniel Whitmore of Sutton, Massachusetts, dated 1809. 44½", 69-72 cal. round steel barrel, with three proof marks; "V", "P", an "Eagle's Head", a "US" surcharge and a "V" stamped on the tang. The lock is also marked "1809" with an "Eagle" over an oval with "US" over "Sutton". The initials "J D" are carved into the right side of the butt of the stock and its left side at the rear of the side plate is marked with an unidentified cartouche. The stock is weathered and missing chips under the front of the lock, at the upper rear edge of lock mortise, and on the right side of the barrel tang. There is a mended crack in front of the lock, otherwise it is sound with normal scratches and dings from years of service. All steel regulation furniture has salt and pepper pitting and areas of deep pitting on the lock. In working order and a good example in "as found" untouched condition. Barrel fit with spring-loaded flip bayonet with sliding release. Lock marked "Dawes" (William & Samuel, Sword Cutlers & Gunmakers, Birmingham. Contractors to Ordnance). Brass furniture. Stock has had restoration to the forward 6" of fore-end. In solid shape, with age scratches and dings from years of service. All steel parts have salt and pepper pitting. 31¾" overall length. A good example in good working order.

British Military 3rd Model Brown Bess Flintlock Musket With Bayonet. Regimentally marked with a broad arrow in a circle (20th battalion Granville Militia) and "20 B. Granville. M" on left side of stock comb using burn branding method. 39" .75 cal. round steel barrel with Tower proof and view marks on left side of breech retains an untouched deep brown age patina. Regulation brass furniture retains an untouched olive patina. Lock marked "Tower" on tail of lock plate, with a crown over "GR" (King George III) and another small crown over a broad arrow (government ownership mark). Stock is marked, with storekeeper's stamp on right side of comb and a crown over a broad arrow over the date "1805". The stock has an old repair through the lock mortise, but remains solid with normal age scratches and dings from years of service. The ram rod is a later replacement.

Steel is muted gray and no original finish remains with a few patches of light salt & pepper pitting. Action is good. The original box has been married to the gun, lined in correct English green baise with maker's label in lid, marked "Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co. 14, Pall Mall. S.W. London". Colt Model 1849 Pocket Pistol. A "gentleman's" five shot, black powder pistol in 31 caliber with a five inch barrel. Brass guard and strap, all parts with matching serial number "314601". The action in good working order with aprox. 80% original bluing remaining, a short scratch on the left side of the barrel and some minor handling marks on the cylinder, as well as on the original laquered wood grips, but overall Very Good condition. This pistol has been on loan to a Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia for the past 35 years and is now available to the collecting public.

Grips are solid with normal age scratches and dings from years of handling. All steel is muted gray with no original finish. Action is good. Original (restored) "Colt London" case with correct English light green baise (worn and stained in places) has been married to the gun. Accessories include cap tin with caps, brass bullet mold, bag-shaped flask by "James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield", and original box key.

Bayonet-Sword for the French Model 1866 Chassepot Rifled Infantry Musket. France, c. 1869. This bayonet has ribbed brass hilt with spring steel latch on the right side. The crossguard in steel with a screw-type fitting for the rifle's muzzle. The blade recurved and scimitar-like. Maker's stamp on top edge of blade: "Mre [Tonp?] de St. Etienne Juillet 1869". Comes with original nickeled scabbard. Blade cleaned sometime in the past, with scattered rust deposits remaining. Some light staining and rust evident on scabbard. Overall, piece in very decent condition. Length (in scabbard): 28". It was manufactured from 1866 to about 1874.

The steel barrel, of octagonal shape, is rifled and set with adjustable front and rear sights. The gun's side panels, plus furniture in brass; along with silver insets of various shapes along the stock. Floral or tremelo engraving on most of the metal pieces. Some slight, thin cracks to areas of the attractively patterned wood stock; two of the larger screws perhaps replacements. In Fine condition and working order. Overall length: 13¾". A very collectible weapon.

Attractive Kentucky Type Flintlock Rifle. United States, perhaps Pennsylvania origin, c. early 19th century. Stocked in handsome striped maple, with engraved arabesques. The original varnish now fairly dark. Right lock stamped with vignette of geese arising from water, and maker's marked "G. Goulcher. Heavy octagonal barrel, rifled for perhaps .45 caliber, with length: 45-1/2", and marked, "P. Conrad." Other fittings neatly made in brass, the inset patch box with floral engraving. Gun has fairly recent replacement ramrod in wood. Fore end of stock with some splits and repairs; along with modest chipping and losses. Overall, a collectible rifle type of appealing quality. Rifle length: 53-3/4".

American Flintlock Full-Stock Kentucky Style Rifle. 44".45 cal. octagon steel barrel. Deep dark brown age patina and overall pitting. Untouched brass furniture with engraved brass patch box, trigger guard, and toe and butt plates. Silver decorative cheek overlay and barrel key escutcheons. The curly maple stock has been repaired several times at the wrist during its working life and is missing small chips from both sides of the upper edge of the barrel channel. The lock is a British Military period replacement marked with "Dublin Castle" and an engraved crown over "GR" (King George III) on the tail. The original lock was operated by a set trigger, but was later replaced and the trigger modified. In good working order.

Attractive Wakizashi and Scabbard. Japan, 19th century. The blade, probably ancestral, is very sharp and retains a fine polish. It has been well cared for, showing a few minor scattered rust spots, the edge showing proper polish and no serious nicks; the temper line bold. The shagreen handle neatly and tightly wrapped, with fine quality fittings showing dragons and Foo lions. The iron tsuba of good quality also, and showing a fishing scene on one side, a riverine and temple view on the other. The fluted scabbard finely lacquered in black, and inset with a slim, small bronze and steel eating knife. Some cracks and chips to the lacquer, along with two bronze fittings missing, otherwise sword in general nicely preserved and obviously well cared for. Length: 25-3/4".

World War II Era Samurai Sword. Japan, c. 1940's. The katana-type sword of Officer's Grade, with traditionally wrapped handle over shagreen, and stamped bronze manuki. The other fittings of classical Japanese Imperial Army style, including a rather attractive tsuba in brass. The scabbard is made of wood and covered in brown leather. This was a typical trademark of the military models. The arsenal-made piece with machine-blade with imitation temper line. Some little tears to the leather, otherwise sword very well preserved. The blade exceptionally clean and seems to have had little if any use. Sword length: 38-1/2".

Very Unusual Saxon Or Salesian Stag Horn Stocked Wheelock Pistol With Built-In Powder Flask. Circa early 17th century. 13.5".54 cal. engraved and gilded octagon section to round barrel with a fantastic raised chiseled grotesque mask on top of the breech extending to the engraved/gilt barrel tang. Chiseled and engraved steel furniture. Large panel relief carved stag horn stock depicting warriors, human figures, and foliage. Stock has a built-in powder flask within the wrist/butt with a spring valve. Lock of Tschinke form chiseled/engraved and gilded in-suit with exterior mainspring. 21.5" overall length.
