California Indian War Five Button Sackcoat. 100% authentic piece in wonderful condition with original linings, inside pocket, and buttons. Sleeve linings display a very seldom seen San Francisco Depot Quarter Master's stamp, dated 1888-9. Following the discovery of gold in California in 1848, Native American tribes experienced escalating conflict with both U.S. cavalry soldiers and encroaching settlers.

Visor strap is loose and features a brass button with an eagle insignia at each end of the band. Front of crown depicts golden wreathing curved around the letters U.W. Condition good.
