Disney Wicked Witch Proof Sham Hologram From Snow White. This 5½" x 4" 3D Wicked Witch hologram is the proof sham that was used to make all of the mass-produced holograms of the Wicked Witch; all other holograms were made from this original one. This unique hologram was made by the American Bank Note Holograph Division. It is housed under glass in a magnificent 22¾" x 22¾" black-box frame that allows light to make the wicked witch come to life, jumping out in vibrant, spectacular colors.

This hologram is featured, also in 3D, on the cover of The Disney Villain by Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas, a collectior's edition of which is included with this hologram. The back cover quotes from Chapter 1: "The Disney villains have had a lasting impact on the public, spreading horror, visual excitement, and…laughter around the world. In picture after picture, the memories of crafty villains, uncaring villains, powerful, cruel and spiteful villains, stay with us, haunting our minds and our hearts."

This unique Disney collectible was presented to the consignor in the early 1990s when he was a schoolteacher in Pennsylvania and taught the nephew of the president of the American Bank Note Holograph Division. Instead of an apple, the teacher received this one-of-a-kind hologram!

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase this important and unique work of art which has never before been brought to market.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 35,000.

Lot 753
(Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) Original Painting of Sleepy. 6½" high handpainted cel of the dwarf "Sleepy" by Mali McCormack, who was one of the painters and inkers at Disney. The painting of Sleepy is overlaid on another painted cel of a chair, on which a smiling Sleepy has climbed so that he can ring the chimes which are painted with him on the top cel. The two cels are on a 7" x 6½" background. Written on the back is "Property of Mali McCormick yr 1941 'Sleepy' Original ptg. from Disney Productions Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs." This 65-year-old piece is absolutely charming and only needs to be matted and framed.

We don't know the purpose of this painting, since the film came out in 1937. We know that Miss McCormack was already working at Disney by 1940, because she participated in an "Exhibition of Animal Studies by and for Disney Employees" that was held June 3-15, 1940 on the Dialog Stage in Burbank. She was also a member of the Screen Cartoonists Guild which was organized in 1941. In those days, painting and inking were the only jobs women were allowed to have at Disney. Since they received no film credits, it is difficult to obtain information about individual painters and inkers.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.
From the estate of Mali McCormack.
