Annabella - Etching by Frank Martin. 26" x 16" (plate is 18" x 9½"), no. 9 of 50, of French actress Annabella, who came to Hollywood in 1937 and was better known for her marriage to Tyrone Power than for her very competent acting. Signed by the artist in pencil. Framed to an overall size of 26" x 16½".

Frank Martin (1921- 2005) was a British artist and illustrator known for his wood engravings and prints of early glamorous Hollywood stars. By working with the grain of the wood, he made screen stills into prints of Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo, Clara Bow and other Silver Screen stars. His etchings and woodcuts have been collected by celebrities such as Elton John and Michael Caine.

Framed to an overall size of 25½" X 20½". The glamorous, business-minded Bennett was from an acting family (daughter of Richard and sister of Joan). She was one of the few silent stars to make the transition to talkies.

Silent star Mae Murray started as a dancer in the Ziegfield Folies before going on to co-star for M-G-M opposite film idols such as Rudolph Valentino and John Gilbert. Her career fizzled when her voice was not found suitable for talkies. She was known as "the girl with the bee-stung lips."
