The rest mainly League Drachms and Hemidrachms, from the Aetolian and Achaean Leagues; plus Sicyon, Chalcis, Argos, and more. Also a group of Parthian drachms. The Indian and Islamic range from ancient to early 20th century, including a number of silver rupees and tankas; plus replica of a Judaean Bar Kochba silver Denarius/Zuz. A superior strike, super sharp details, with lovely iridescent toning -- almost a lime-gold to russet in the recesses. Struck from artistic, quality dies. Highly lustrous and handsome! Lucania. Velia, c. 365-340 BC. AR Nomos (7.59 g). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet with griffin ornament; Θ below crest. Reverse: Lion walking right, tongue lolling; X beneath belly; ethnic in exergue. Cf. SNG ANS 1303 (different letter below lion on reverse). The lion a little softly struck at the center, but Athena in exquisite classical style. Fine old toning, with hints of iridescent rose, steel blue, and greens. A very handsome example of this series. Sicily. Leontini, c. 445-430 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.42 g). Laureate head of Apollo left. Reverse: Head of roaring lion left, four barley grains around; ethnic above, retrograde. Cf. SNG ANS 233 for obverse; cf. Dewing 630, probably same obverse die, but much later die state. The obverse die showing rust and some wear; the reverse fresh and sharp. The centers just a trifle soft, but overall cleanly struck and bold. The obverse especially with bright luster; all beneath a handsome light to medium gray tone with areas of colorful iridescence. Attractive. Uncirculated.

Reverse: Head of Arethusa right, wearing pearl necklace, and pendant earring, along with pearl diadem under which hair is tucked up; ethnic around, four dolphins placed clockwise around. Boehringer, Group III, no. 306. Perfectly centered on nice and round, if a bit smallish and thick, flan. Lightly toned with an attractive Arethusa. Choice Extremely Fine.
