1840, $1,000 Bank of the United States, Philadelphia, PA. RCGS Choice 64. Serial number 8894 of this note is well-known as the ubiquitous replica, but genuine examples of this note do exist and are quite desirable. This example is as high a grade piece as we've seen, with no flaws save for a broad corner bend at the lower left. Boldly signed, well printed, and with terrific eye appeal.
