Lot 282
1859 Silver Three Cents. Proof 65. 800 coined in 1859. A halo of bright blue iridescent toning surrounds lighter golden centers on both obverse and reverse. The so-called Bull's-eye toning. Quite scarce as the first date regularly struck in Proof for collectors. Its mirrors really glitter! Came direct to us from an old estate, so it has never been to the slabbers. Whether this grades PR65, 66 or even 67 is of no matter, for it is a little beauty.

1883 Nickel Three Cents. Proof 63. A boldly struck little proof with a band of toning across Liberty's face and surrounding field. The reverse similar, with a breath of toning at the center. Curiously more were struck in Proof than for circulation of this year.

1884 Nickel Three Cents. PCGS graded Proof 65. Here is one of today's little gold mines; an old style PCGS holder. Many of these coins were only graded once before they were locked away in this remarkable Guide Book collection, and possible upgrades abound. Slightly toned with a touch of original haze.
