1896, $1 Silver Certificate. PCGS graded Very Choice New 64PPQ. . Fr-225. . KL-39. A lovely, fully original Educational $1 that is boldly embossed and fully original, attributes which can be seen through the holder and gave the note its coveted "PPQ" designation. The bottom margin is a trifle thin, otherwise a Gem grade would be in order. The theme of this $1 Educational Series note is History Instructing Youth. This is one of the most ornate currency designs released by the United States, yet it was issued only until 1899, when it was supplanted by the more familiar (and much more plentiful) black eagle $1 design. A handsome addition to any collection of large size paper money. Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000. View details and enlarged photos

1886, $2 Silver Certificate. CGC graded Premium Gem 68PQ. . Fr-242. . KL-123. According to CGC, this is one of only two examples that they have graded at this lofty grade. Lot 3457 |

Lot 3458 |
|
1891, $2 Silver Certificate. CGA graded Extremely Fine 40. . Fr-245. . KL-126. This low serial number E7 example is one of several low numbers reported for this type, but this is the third lowest number known and one of only three single digit notes. It last appeared in a CAA-Heritage sale in 2003, where it fetched $4,370. In today’s advanced market, where special serial numbers are even more appreciated, it should bring much more. Estimated Value $8,000 - 10,000. View details and enlarged photos

1899, $2 Silver Certificate. Fr-249. PCGS graded Superb Gem New 67PPQ. . Fr-249. . KL-130. The first of two consecutive 1899 Silver Deuces, this example has been assigned the Superb Gem 67PPQ grade by the experts at PCGS Currency. An outstanding example for the type collector who wants only the very best. Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000. View details and enlarged photos

Lot 3462 |
|
1899, $2 Silver Certificate. Fr-249. PCGS graded Gem New 66PPQ. . Fr-249. . KL-130. This is a lovely, fully embossed, boldly original example of the first signature combination of this "Personality Series" Deuce. It is the second of two consecutive notes. It has nearly perfect centering, and the colors are exquisite. The back centering is perhaps a hair low, perhaps why the experts at PCGS did not assign a Superb Gem grade. Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000. View details and enlarged photos

Lot 3463 |
|
1899, $2 Silver Certificate. CGC Very Fine 45. . Fr-251. . KL-132. We're not certain if CGC meant "Extremely Fine" when they graded this Deuce "45," as this appears to be a mechanical error on their part. It certainly appears that it meets any standards for the XF grade. Only a couple of light folds are easily evident. Estimated Value $500 - 600. View details and enlarged photos

Lot 3464 |
|

Lot 3465 |
|
1899, $2 Silver Certificate Error. Printed Foldover. PCGS graded Fine 12. . Fr-257. . KL-138. This spectacular error is one of only a handful of errors that we have ever seen on this type, and it certainly is a spectacular one at that. The corner of the sheet on this "A" plate position note folded over at the top left before the overprint was added, and a portion of the overprint appears on the back of the note. Any estimate on this type of error is purely speculative, but we fully expect much bidder interest. Estimated Value $6,000 - 8,000. View details and enlarged photos
