Lot 2361
1916-S $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded MS-66. Intensely frosty. An extraordinary gem of the finest order. Broadly sweeping cartwheel luster glows brightly on medium orange matte-like surfaces typical for this pre-World War I date (America declared war on Germany in April 1917, after which gold coinage ceased at the mints). Additionally, this date is easier said than done to find fully struck. The centers pack full detail into the design from a decidedly precision strike. 796,000 minted. Pop 99; 2 finer in 67.
Estimated Value $4,200 - 4,500.

Lot 2366
1922 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-65. Lovely light golden toning. Golden satin surfaces, quite lustrous in appearance with delicate toning. Often, a soft impact was left by the recoil of the likely worn dies that struck 1922's coinage; but once in awhile, like the present one, the opposite is the case and the coin has a credible strike. Pop 808; 7 finer in 66. (PCGS # 9173) .
