Lot 1503
1901-S Barber Dime. PCGS graded MS-66. Nicely toned around the edges. Although not the thunderclap its quarter dollar counterpart is, the 1901-S Dime resonates with collectors all the same from its mintage below 600,000 pieces. The coin is coveted in all grades. Mint State coins are not all that plentiful, and many are probably resubmissions to the grading services where they get "maxed out." Volumes could be written about this coin's lovely toned surfaces that display cobalt-blue and steel patina around the peripheries, speckled with lavender and deep reddish brown. The design features are bold throughout in keeping with the usual high quality of this mint's production in the early 1900s. A first-rate gem. Low mintage date. 593,022 minted (PCGS # 4826) .
Estimated Value $5,800 - 6,500.
