Lot 3635
1849-D $1 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded AU-50. Open wreath. A nice problem-free example which has a nice display of golden luster at the main devices. A few little marks her and there but nothing unusual for a gold dollar from this scarcer branch mint. Only 21,588 minted, all having an open wreath on the reverse which became the norm in 1850-54 (PCGS # 7507) .
Estimated Value $1,600 - 1,800.

Lot 3636
1850 $1 Gold Liberty. NGC graded MS-65. A bold Gem quality example. Radiant and exhibiting very beautiful color including warm orange gold. A very pleasing example of this 1850 gold dollar. So much, then, for the luster. As for the devices, these were struck with sufficient power by the dies that they left all design elements showing, and showing clearly, unlike many where a few areas mushy, with only a couple of the stars somewhat rounded at their centers. Pop 12; 5 finer.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,300.

Lot 3637
1851 $1 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Lightly toned. Aesthetically tempting, as fine a looking coin at this grade level as you can imagine, with an honest if not quite as full a strike as you are apt to see, and all the while saturated with bright golden color. This is the final design modification of these Liberty Head gold dollars after several failed attempts in 1849. It features a large Liberty head and a closed wreath on the reverse. This combination first appeared in 1849 and continued through 1854 (PCGS # 7513) .
Estimated Value $1,400 - 1,600.

Lot 3639
1852-D $1 Gold Liberty. NGC graded AU-58. A dampened impression was left by the rebound of the dies that made this Dahlonega mint coin, with flatness on some hair curls and a broken nose bridge, possibly pointing to the dies having been relapped after clashing. Natural light golden color. Pop 28; 32 finer.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,000.
