Although the original mintage of this issue was 100,000 pieces, archival records in Honolulu show that as of 1862, only about 11,000 remained outstanding. Scarce in all grades and highly popular as the only year Hawaiian cents were struck.

1883 Hawaiian Quarter Dollar. NGC graded MS-62 Date 1883 over 1383. A choice, frosty example with slight weakness in the beard details as commonly seen. Five dies for the quarter were sent from Philadelphia to San Francisco, where some but not necessarily all were used to strike 500,000 quarter dollars. Of those dies, one has an erroneously punched 3 below the first 8 in the date. This die, along with the rest, can be viewed at the Hawaii State Archives in Honolulu (the building immediately mauka of the Royal Palace).

1939. Lincoln Gold Token (Dollar) New York. MS-60 cleaned. HK-493 SC $1. This token is the work of Thomas Lindsay Elder (1874-1948), a New York City dealer who was one of the leading numismatics at the turn of the 20th century. A frequent contributor to The Numismatist and a conscientious participant in ANA politics, he is noted for his phenomenal memory and capacity for work. It was said that he could catalog an auction of 1,000 lots without help from a reference. Tokens were a hobby of Elder's. (Similar Lincoln gold tokens were also made in 1910 and 1927 by Elder.).

Exceptionally Beautiful Alaska Gold Medal. A vintage 1895-1920 handmade gold medal with a suspension loop for wearing. Dimensions 32mm high x 28mm wide, weight 13.45 grams. The medal, meant to highlight the unique character of Alaska's natural beauty, is crafted in three color gold, red, yellow and green, and portrays a log cabin and a well head nestled before a thickly forested landscape beneath craggy peaks at sunrise and sunset. Below is the word Alaska. The design is identical on both sides except for changes in the coloring of the design details, which are boldly modeled and set within an intricate rope-like border. A lovely and artistic rendering of quaint life amid Alaska's wonders. Choice AU.

  Four Piece Set of the Official 1959 Hawaii Statehood Medals. The official medals produced by Medallic Art in 63mm size. Consists of one each of the first and second issues in silver and bronze. The only difference we see in the two types is the spacing of the spelling of the letters in Niihau, where the first type splits the island's name into two 3 letter words. All are Choice Uncirculated in an attractive custom made lucite holder. Lot of 4 medals.

Late 19th century Prohibition Party Demorest Prize Medal. Two piece chain link medal in silver, aprox. 54mm x 35mm, hand engraved obverse and "Awarded to H.M.F." on rev. William Jennings Demorest and his wife Nell were prominent Prohibition Party activists and distributed medals to supporters of the cause and school children for pro-prohibition essays. Demorest died in New York in 1895. Very Fine.
