A World War One Patriotic Silk Handkerchief. A white silk commemorative handkerchief, aproximately 17 inches square, having at one corner an embroidered eagle standing on a shield before two crossed American flags, with "Bertram" above this pictorial design. We note a bit of light browning from age, otherwise very good condition with bright colors in the embroidery.

An Early British O.B.E. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Badge of an Officer in gilt silver; type I used 1917 to 1936. Four hallmarks on reverse and mounted on the original ribbon of the Civil Division, with sterling brooch suspension. Slight wear to the ribbon, otherwise Choice Extremely Fine or better with attractive light toning.

Rare Canadian/British WW I Black Watch Officer's Tunic. A Scottish Pattern tunic of a Major in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces 42nd Battalion Royal Highlanders of Canada, the Black Watch, having a cutaway front for use with a sporran and kilt. With a London tailor's label dated 2/22/18 and named to Chilion Graves Heward (born 1886 and in later life a prominent attorney). Gilt "Canada" shoulder insignia, two gilt lapel badges of the 42nd Canadian Battalion and original shoulder patches of the 42nd (green triangle) and the 3rd Canadian Division (light blue rectangle). Also includes the original leather Sam Brown belt. A rare and desirable tunic in excellent condition.

Rare World War I Balloon Observation Unit Photo Archive. Three photograph albums of an officer in a balloon observation unit, containing a total of over 260 original black & white photos of various sizes taken from 1915 to 1916. Subjects include unit officers, interior and exterior views of their forest camps, battlefields, fortifications, balloons being launched and in use, aerial photos of battlefields, observers in cold weather gear, biplanes, a staff auto, officers at work and play, wild boar hunt and other topics. We have noted on occasion that even single similar balloon unit photos can sell up to $100 each. A rare and important archive of wartime ballooning activity.

World War I Austrian Artillery Officer's Tunic & Cap. A service dress tunic, with a Vienna tailor's label, in blue-gray wool with red collar tabs indicating artillery and a bullion star of a 2nd Lieutenent. Two medals above left breast pocket; a WW I Wound Medal of Emperor Karl and a 1908 60th Anniversary of Reign Medal of Franz Joseph, both on original tri-fold ribbons. Also a matching Field Service Visor Cap with gold bullion thread cipher of Franz Joseph and artillery buttons with a white metal badge of Army Group Grand Duke Eugen 1916 affixed to the left side. Tunic in very good overall condition with only light soiling; the cap somewhat faded and with very minor mothing, though with original silk lining and complete sweat band having initials "W.S."

World War I Vintage Dragoon Officer's Picklehaube. A Model 1897 Wurttemberg Picklehaube Helmet of an officer in the 25th Regiment of Dragoons, one of only two regiments from Wurttemberg to serve in WW I. The picklehaubes of this regiment are identified by the square front visor and cruciform spike base, this one with pearl ring band and gold star screws of an officer. The crown in black leather with silvered details, including the helmet plate, spike and base, chin scales, brim border and rear spine. The cockades are those of an enlisted soldier rather than an officer. Very good overall condition with some cracking and spidering to the leather, though complete and original, as is the liner and sweatband.

WW I Bavarian Officer's Shoulder Boards. A pair of original WW I era shoulder boards of a 2nd Lieutenant in the Field Military Police. Upper portion in green (for military police) felt and gilt brass with gold and light blue lace indicating Bavarian forces. Backing in red-orange felt. Very good condition with only minor age toning.
