This is an exceptionally choice example of one of the rare penny patterns of the period. Listed by peck and Freeman as cupro-nickel, this appears to have actually been made in nickel brass. Far superior to the Brand/Nobleman/Norweb specimen this may be the finest of the 6-15 pieces believed to exist. Extremely Rare. PCGS graded Proof 63.

Reverse: Britannia seated. This is indeed a very desirable item, originally produced alongside other pieces when the decimalization of Britain's currency was mooted in the 1850's. A beautiful bronzed proof finish with only the tiniest of die or metal imperfections. PCGS graded Proof 63 Brown.
