1879 Indian Head Cent. PCGS graded Proof 65 Red. A deeply reflective and completely original gem proof Indian Head cent with intense mint red coloration. An original film lays on the surfaces, it is transparent and gives a light silky sheen to the coin. Every detail is superbly struck, as is to be expected on a real gem. Nearly completely free from all fly specks, noting only a single pair by the U of UNITED and several microscopic spots by the date. Housed in an old PCGS green label, fat letter holder with an "Eagle Eye Photo Seal" sticker. PCGS population of 41 in PR-65RD, 26 in PR-66RD and 10 in PR-67RD (PCGS # 2326) .

No hairlines of any sort are found on this beautiful superb gem. Slight repunching is seen above the right top of the 3 in date, a diagnostic of the Snow-1 variety. The 1883 has the largest proof mintage of the entire run of proof Indian Cents, 6,609 coins being struck in this format. A common proof date in an uncommon and aesthetically outstanding condition (PCGS # 2336) .

1886 Indian Head Cent. Variety 1. . Snow-1, Scarce. PCGS graded Proof 66 Brown. Strongly reflective fields under uniform coffee brown coloration. Liberty, wreath and lettering are all rich indigo blue and frosty. Technically superior and found with soft, shimmering metal flow in the obverse fields. Two distinct types exist for the 1886 Indian Cent issue, the Type I (Hub of 1864-1886) and Type II (Hub of 1886-1909). The present specimen is identified as a Type I variety by the last feather of the headdress pointing between the IC of AMERICA. On the Type II examples, the last feather is seen pointing between the CA of AMERICA. Proof issues of the Type I hub are scarcer than the proof issues of the Type II hub. This superb gem specimen is also a Snow-1 example, displaying light repunching in the 6 of the date and other diagnostics such as outlines on all obverse lettering and the AM and TA connecting. PCGS population of 1 with none finer (PCGS # 2345) .
