Flowing Hair Cent. 1793. Chain reverse, "AMERI." in legend. S-1. PCGS graded Fine-15. Actually, sharpness of Extremely Fine but struck on a slightly grainy planchet. The surfaces are a uniform dark slate-brown and free from nicks or marks worthy of note. Here is a truly "fine" example of our first cent (PCGS # 1340) .

Liberty Cap Cent. 1795. S-76b. Rarity-1. Plain Edge. PCGS graded VF-35 Mint Error-Flipover Triple Strike. Medium brown with smooth, glossy surfaces. Triple struck with clear undertype on each side. The intial strike was properly centered while the second strike was 10% off-center toward 10:00. The planchet then flipped over and a third impression was made slightly off-center toward 9:00. Strong undertype from the second strike shows on the right side of the obverse. Very clear remnants of the first two strikes show on the right side of the reverse, including two strong caps, one partially overlaying the other. A neat mint error!!!! (PCGS # 1381) .

There is a small planchet lamination on the right reverse. DOUBLE STRUCK, with the second strike 5% off-center toward 10:00. The date shows as 17977 and there are another set of dentils around the right obverse rim. Also, there are another set of dentils around the right reverse rim with the tops of MERI showing above MERI of the second strike. Removed from an NGC holder graded VG10. Includes tag.

A short scratch right of the date. Some circulation marks….most notable on the leaf below M. DOUBLE STRUCK, with the second strike 5% off-center toward 10:00. The date shows as 17988 with doubling at the point of the bust and at the top of the head. The dentils and the right side of the reverse show doubling. An interesting mint error.
