T-7, Cr-10, 1861, $100.00. This is the first type of Confederate note to be lithographed. Prior to T-7s all notes were printed with intagilo plates which are costly and slow. Confederate Secretary of the Treasury Memminger contracted with Hoyer & Lugwig of Richmond to print large quantity of CSA notes and bonds in mid 1861.

A number of very small edge tears with the largest being 5 mm; most are about 1 mm. Still a rare and desirable note. Very Fine.

Lot 2966
T-13, Cr-?? 1861, $100.00. A very interesting note that we cannot locate anywhere in Criswell. At first it looks like a Cr-56 (No flourish between "Confederate" and "States") but under close examination we noticed a number of other interesting items about this note. There are extra flourishes under later part of "Confederate" and first part of "States". Next are all the extra lines and flourishes under "One Hundred Dollars". We have looked at this note and many other T-13 and convinced that this note is not counterfeit in anyway whatsoever. While there are nine major and dozens of minor varieties of T-13, this note has too many varieties at once to be considered a minor type. It seems we have a new Criswell number! Fine.
Estimated Value $150 - 250.

Lot 2969
T-26, Cr1778, 1861, $10.00. Left we have R.M. Hunter (1807-1887). Hunter was a United States Senator from Virginia before the war. He served the Confederacy briefly as Secretary of State and as a Senator. Right was C.G. Memminger (1803-1888). Memminger was the chairman of the Finance Committee in the South Carolina legislature before the war. During the war he was the Confederacy's Secretary of the Treasury.

Solid note with just a hint of the paper aging. Extremely Fine.
Estimated Value $350 - 450.

T-32, Cr-246, 1861, $5.00. The Confederacy was short on most things, including quality printing plates. T-32s were printed with altered plates from the Mechanics Savings Bank of Savannah, Georgia. Just a mere 20,333 notes were issued.

A nice note with a few edge faults and a old time backing to one-quarter of the note. This repair is contemporary to the time, and was done because of a tear that starts at the top and goes down to the bottom of the "m" in "America". Very Good.
Estimated Value $750 - 1,000.
