Lot 2678
1894 $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-64. Lovely, orange-yellow and pink toning. The surfaces are nice and clean, with only the tiniest of contact marks noted under careful examination. The top of the reverse, near "IN GOD WE" sports a small patch of natural voids, created by impurities in the gold alloy. However, these are well hidden and have already been factored into the grade. MS-64 is an important grade for this date, as the vast majority of 1894 Twenties grade MS-63 or less and PCGS reports only one finer example, a single MS-65 (PCGS # 9025) .
Estimated Value $3,300 - 3,800.

1900 $20 Gold Coin Watch made by Vacheron and Constantin of Geneva, Switzerland. 1900 $20 Gold Coin Watch made by Vacheron and Constantin of Geneva, Switzerland This high-quality, precision-made piece consists of the obverse and reverse of a 1900 Double Eagle which have now become the lid and back of a golden case that houses a small watch. The lid is opened by pressing a secret button on the edge of the "coin" and the watch flips out of its recessed area inside the coin. The overall quality is excellent -- the coin is AU or better, the case is in good, working, order, but we're not competent to judge the clock itself or to comment on whether (or not) it actually works. Brand new, these have huge retail values, so this is a good opportunity to save some money.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500.

1904 $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. A simply exquisite example of this late date! All the stars are deeply delineated, showing all radial lines on each of them. Also the neck feathers of the eagle are all present. These details indicate a superb strike. The surfaces are gleaming in beautiful rose-gold color, beneath which is a gorgeous satiny gleam. Virtually no marks, and Liberty's face is untouched. Seems like a Gem coin to this cataloguer thus our Premium Quality designation (PCGS # 9045) .
