1909-O $5 Indian. NGC graded AU-58. With the single exception of the 1929, this is the key date to the series. The surfaces are a rich golden-orange and free of major marks and quite appealing to the eye. A desirable low-mintage date that is lacking from most collections. With a mintage of only 34,200 examples, this is the lowest production figure of the Indian type. Popular in all grades due to its mintage of 34,200 and the only Indian Half Eagle produced by the New Orleans Mint. Pop of 170.
Estimated Value $4,800 - 5,200.

Lot 2539
1909-O $5 Indian. NGC graded AU-58. A very attractive example of this popular and rare, O-Mint issue. The strike is way above-average and even the mintmark is well-defined (usually, the mintmark is a "blob" or barely visible). Minimal wear and no noticeable marks except for a planchet flaw (as made) just above the tip of the eagle's tail and another small contact mark below the M of AMERICA. A wonderful alternative to the much more expensive Mint State examples.
Estimated Value $4,800 - 5,200.
