The cameo contrast is just shy of being Deep Cameo. 1,100 Proof Morgan Dollars were made in 1879, plus 1,541 Trade Dollars, indicating the resurgence in numismatics following the introduction of the Morgan design in 1878. This resurgence reached a peak in 1880, when over 3,200 Proof Morgan and Trade Dollars were made. PCGS reports 4 in this grade, with 10 finer.
