U.S. Coins - Gold $20 - St. Gaudens

Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 3458
1907 $20 St. Gaudens. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. PCGS graded MS-62. A well struck example with lovely golden-orange mint bloom color. The obverse is particularly choice and would justify a point or so higher, however, we note a mark on the reverse rim at 8:30 and a nearby scratch in the field. Always in demand, particularly so with such a choice obverse.
Estimated Value $9,000 - 11,000.

Lot 3459
1907 $20 St. Gaudens. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. Sharpness of EF-40. Cleaned with some marks in the field. Although no signs of solder, we suspect this example was probably used as jewelry.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,500.

Lot 3460
1907 $20 St. Gaudens. High relief, Roman numerals, flat rim. VG-7. An obvious "pocket piece" as this example shows plenty of abuse, i.e., rim bumps and lots of wear. Shopping for price on a High Relief? Look no further as this probably ranks among the worst we have seen.
Estimated Value $2,250 - 2,750.
