Lot 3129
1893 $2.50 Liberty. PCGS graded Proof 66 Deep Cameo. A delightful, yellow-green-gold example of this date in the most desirable of all formats - Deep Cameo. Tied with 2 others at PCGS for "Finest Deep Cameo" honors (the population was once up to 4 pieces, a number apparently inflated by at least one resubmission). Only 106 Proof Quarter Eagles were squeezed out in 1893, at which time the quality of the coins being produced was outstanding. This is one of the best survivors and it is a truly remarkable coin.
Estimated Value $19,000 - 22,000.

Lot 3132
1901 $2.50 Liberty. NGC graded MS-68. The grade of this coin says it all -- MS-68! NGC has graded only one example at this grade level and absolutely none finer. Thus, if you are a collector who seeks the best of the best, then here is an opportunity to buy just that. The same words that we usually use to described coins fall far short of the coin's actual beauty. "Lustrous" -- but far more so than usual. "Satiny" -- not just on the surface, but deep into the golden metal. "Colorful" -- not orangey, or copper-spotted, but with delicious green and pink highlights perfectly applied to the surfaces. "Well-struck" -- how about a near-perfect strike. To make it easier, just multiply the usual adjectives by two or three and you'll get a good mental impression of how this coin looks. Better yet, visit us during lot viewing and enjoy this coin in person!
Estimated Value $9,000 - 11,000.

1904 $2.50 Liberty. NGC graded Proof 66 Ultra Cameo. A magnificent Gem Proof example. Only 170 were coined in Proof, of which NGC has graded only 1 Proof-66 Ultra Cameo (this coin), 1 Proof-67 Ultra Cameo, and 1 Proof-68 Ultra Cameo. Thus, if you seek a visually appealing coin with that great black-and-white contrast that only Ultra Cameo coins can offer, here's an opportunity to purchase a superb coin without having to pay the huge sums required for the two finer pieces. We cannot imagine a better value in today's market.
Estimated Value $15,000 - 18,000.
